Teaching Children with Autism

Autism4teachers is a support site for teachers of students who have autism.  The site features a wealth of materials and information.  This resource was developed by Orange County Public Schools.

eLive is a monthly magazine for children who read picture symbols.

• This month’s edition has News, Film, Horoscopes and a Recipe for Easter Biscuits.

• The Fun section is Jokes along with Star Sign, Pisces.

• This month’s Feature is on The Beast of Exmoor. The Community section is about a Naturalist, who is involved with animals and nature.

• The Games section has an online jigsaw, but if you download the magazine you’ll also get an Easter word search.

Vanderbilt Sleep Disorders Center researchers are reporting that melatonin, an over-the-counter and relatively inexpensive dietary supplement taken for insomnia and jet lag, shows promise in treating children with autism who have difficulty falling asleep.

Northwestern University researchers under the direction of Professor Justine Cassell are developing interventions designed to prepare children with autism for interactions with real-life children.
